Only about 2,500 of these beautiful striped donkeys remain. They are the "Grévy's Zebra", a Northern subspecies who are highly adapted to more arid, desert conditions. Adult males can often be seen alone overlooking their harem, which makes them even more vulnerable to predation. I was fortunate enough to capture this male during a drive in Sera Conservancy in Northern Kenya during a split-second opening in the bushes.
